Beneath the Surface
Well, it's been a good run, vegan-goddess.com. But I need a change. It's not you (I still think you're great and hope we can still be friends)--it's me. I've changed.
I think the new site name, Beneath the Surface, is a better reflection of where I am at this point in my life. It has many meanings...
On the surface, it refers literally to where I spend a lot of my time these days: thirty to 100 feet beneath the shining waves, eye to eye with fish. Scuba divers look at the water completely differently from most people. It's only natural. The sea is vast and mysterious (we know more about the moon than we know about our own ocean depths). And most of us are acquainted with only the first few feet of it. There is so much going on that we don't see... until we change our vantage point. To even begin to understand it, you have to go deeper, until you find yourself a stranger in an alien world, rapt with wonder. But that itself is a metaphor...
The other meaning harks back to some of the conversations I had with my dear friend and flatmate in London, M. She was one of the few people I've clicked with right away. I consider myself blesses that all of my roommates since college have been people I could talk to this way, in a meaningful way. There aren't many. Most of the time, our daily interaction remains at the surface. We say nothing of consequence to one another, nothing that reveals who we really are or what we believe at our core, wrapped behind our affectations, adaptations, and defenses. But sometimes, someone comes along and you see in them a kindred spirit and you can skip past or move beyond that surface stuff.
And that is what I am interested in communicating here. This is not a diary, a chronicle of events that happened. At least, I hope for it to be more than that. I hope to take you beneath the surface.

You're not just moving your body around the world as you travel, you're moving your body and sprit as well. And with the movement comes discovery and growth.
I'm glad you've been learning and growing! Keep at it!!
